TKO 502VMT Muay Thai Bag 125lbs Review

I bought a canvas TKO punching bag more than 10 years ago and it is still in decent shape. It is just a little bit harder than a banana bag and packed very well. The stitching is great. I had to put small 4 carabiners on the chains connecting to the D-rings on the top of the bag to stop them from popping off. The only Complaint I could possibly have is I would prefer it be a touch harder. After testing lots of comparable bags, I would only buy a Title or TKO, they are both top notch bags.

TKO Heavy Bag Wall Mount Review

This mount works great for what it is. Please be aware that for $70 you are not going to get super strength or sealed ball bearings. However it hangs my 100lb heavy bag and tolerates my punching and kicking just fine, and when I need the space it swings the bag out of the way just as advertised. Is a good product at a good price.
Mounting: I would have to seriously question the intelegence of someone that would try to mount this straight to a sheetrock wall. To stand up to a swinging 100lb bag is going to require some re-enforcement. Get a four foot 2x10 from your local lumber store and cut two 20 inch long pieces. Position the supports so that the TKO (top and bottom) brackets will be centered on the wood. This means the outside holes will line up verticly between the screws that mount the wood to the wall. Mount these supports to the wall studs with four 3/8" x 4" lag screws and washers per board. You should have about 2" of wood extended beyond the wall studs and screws for strength. Mount the TKO with 3/8" x 4" lag screws in the outside holes and 3/8" x 2" lag screws (and washers) in the inside holes. You will want to pre-drill all these holes so you are not splitting the wood. This is how I did it, and my TKO mount does NOT flex at all.

The bag came pre filled with cotton fibers and sand materials. So it was already the weight I selected. Hanging it was easy for it came with everything you need except a strong eyebolt, which you can pick up for around $4 at a hardware store. The bag itself feels very sturdy and the distribution of materials inside is perfect. The gloves it comes with are perfect for they provide wrist support and protect your knuckles. The only thing I would recommend you get in addition to this is a good pair of hand wraps, which are only about $10. Overall a great bag for excersizing with.

Century Wavemaster Training Bag - Blue Review

The Century Wavemaster Freestanding Training Bag is a decent bag for martial arts workouts. Our TeaKwonDo studio has about eight of these and we liked using them in our workouts. We were lucky enough to get ours locally and find it a very useful training aid. Here are my observations:
While I really can't speak to the packaging or shipping of these, the setup really couldn't be easier. This unit consists of the hollow base and the striking padding. The Base can be filled with water (which we use), sand, or a combination of both. When filled with water it is weighs over 200lbs and can moved around by tilting it on an angle and rolling it. The pad is inserted over the base shaft and can be adjusted by twisting and positioning it near the correct height and locking it in place (see video).
The assembled and filled unit is fairly sturdy, but it does tend to move and slide around when it is hit with force (see video). We usually use ours in the yard or on mats in our garage so the movement isn't really a problem for us, but this would make a racket on a house or apartment floor.
The large base is not a target area and needs to be avoided when kicking. The base also rocks upwards and it would be possible to get toes caught under it on the bounce, so some caution needs to be used if advancing on the unit.
The striking padding is thick enough to absorb the hardest blows, but the covering can be a little rough on the knuckles if gloves aren't worn for protection. The covering has held up well, both on ours and on the ones we use in class.
This is a very good alternative to a heavy bag and really helps to develop better striking power.
Recommended, with the above caveats.
